Association Information
Formed in the Fall of 1998, The Ohio River Valley Texas Longhorn Association is an affiliate association to the International Texas Longhorn Association based out of Glen Rose Texas. The mission of the ORVTLA is to preserve and promote the Texas Longhorn breed of cattle and to provide for fellowship among members. This may be done by sales, tours, field days, shows and other honorable means. These achievements may be accomplished by all the membership working together.
Led by an Executive Board of four elected officers and five elected Directors, ORVTLA's members are invited to quarterly meetings where promotion of breed, opportunity for member seminars, association business, and show information are discussed and voted upon. Meetings are generally held on association ranches and allow members to travel, explore, and fellowship with one another.
The biggest event that ORVTLA hosts, aside from quarterly meetings, is the ORVTLA Show held in the month of July at Henderson's Arena in Jackson, OH. This two day show brings breeders from all over the country to exhibit their registered animals in Showmanship, Youth Haltered, Open Haltered, Loose shows, and the Buckeye Classic Futurity. ORVTLA brings in high quality ITLA approved Judges for this annual ITLA point show. Qualifying animals are invited to the ITLA Championship show at the end of the year.
